US ' To assist Nigeria to recover stolen money over the years


The newly elected president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has called the attention of other countries on the fight to corruption which as lead to funds stolen into foreign countries during past administrations.

The US and other
countries which are not yet mentioned has agreed to join hands with Mr. Buhari with his vision to fight corruption and recover stolen moneys which are worth billions of dollars.

In his administration, president Buhari vowed to fight corruption, which is known has one of the country's biggest problems that causes indiscipline and lack of accountability of public office's workers.  In fact corruption is Nigeria's biggest problem.

Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producing nation but much of the revenue is said to be stolen.

President Buhari on a meeting, Tuesday with state governors said "the days of impunity and lack of accountability are over".

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo estimates that Nigeria's debts stand at about $60bn (£38bn).

However, former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has rejected the claim, saying the debt was much lower, AFP news agency reports.

Mr Buhari's election victory ending 16 years of rule by the Peoples Democratic Party.
It was the first time an opposition candidate has won a presidential election in Nigeria.
